The Incorporated Law Society's Calendar and Law Directory for the Year 1930

£12.99

Product description

This unusual book from 1930, published by the authority of the Council of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, contains everything from a calendar of lectures and exams, to a list of practising solicitors and their contact details, to a full printing of the Solicitors (Ireland) Act 1868. It is a comprehensive book of reference for solicitors in the year 1930.

The boards of the book are coming away from the spine, and the cover over the spine is loose. The back board is held on by tape, and there is some wear to the corners of the boards. There is a stamp on the title page, stating the name of the solicitor the book belonged to in 1930. Inside, most of the pages are in good condition. Towards the end, pages 518-525 are discoloured and have some pencils markings on them. There is also some discolouration and pencil markings on the back pages. Tucked into the back of the book there is a typed page regarding the Cost of Leases Act from 1958.  Though these do mark the book as imperfect, they also add value to the historical nature of the book. This is clearly a book that was used in its time, and marks a moment in legal history, as well as a personal history. It would appeal to those interested in legal history, especially in Ireland.
