The Private Letters of Princess Lieven to Prince Metternich

£20.00

Product description

"It seems to me that our correspondence ought to be of the greatest value to an historian of our times. My letters have been a most faithful record of everything that came to my knowledge ... In short, it strikes me that the truth will emerge more clearly from this exchange of letters than from any memoirs that may be published." (Madame de Lieven to Metternich, 1826). Letters edited and with a biographical foreword by Peter Quennell.

xxii, 386 roughcut pages, including index. Very good/Good. Spine ends a little rubbed and bumped, minor spotting to top edge of book, browning to endpapers, contents otherwise clean and bright. Dust jacket rubbed and bumped along edges, with chips, wrinkles and short tears, not price-clipped, in good condition only.

Weight 800g. Size 22.6 x 16 x 3.9 cm.
