The Stripling Thames : A Book of the River Above Oxford [1909]

£70.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

Published in 1909 by the author, Fred S Thacker. Green cloth covers with gilt lettering, marbled green end papers.

A delightful, and scarce book of the river Thames above the city of Oxford. Published by the author himself; he takes the reader village by village from Wolvercote to its source. Packed with photographs, maps and sketches. It gives a very clear view of the life in villages around the Thames of a century ago, with insightful anecdotes of the author's own visits to the area. Includes a detailed index.

A former owner's name is written in pencil on the half-title page. The cover does have some rubbing wear on the edges of the spine, and the spine is also a little discoloured. Some foxing spots on the pages and edges of the text block. However in a bright and clean condition with a sound binding.
