The book is in poor condition. The binding is reasonably sound except for some cracking along the gutters, particularly the endpapers. Wear to the boards with particular damage to the spine. Page end tanning and foxing. Prize label pasted on to the front paste-down endpaper. Some foxing internally.
Edward S Ellis (1840-1916) was an American author. He was a teacher, school administrator, journalist, and the author of hundreds of books and magazine articles that he produced by his name and by a number of noms de plume. Notable fiction stories by Ellis include “The Steam Man of the Prairies” and “Seth Jones, or the Captives of the Frontier”. Internationally, he is probably best known for his Deerfoot novels read widely by young boys until the 1950s. Notable works include the book offered here.
