One of a series of introductory books aiming at reassessing the ideas of leading thinkers for the informed non-specialist. Other titles published were on Freud and Shaw. 15 short chapters on Darwin's life and works, but also on his impact on Poetry and Christianity.
The author was a classicist (Professor Emeritus at Swansea) but specialised in popularising the history of Science.
