Wir Bauen Eine Stadt (We Are Building a City)

£175.00

Product description

Please note: The text of this book is in German.

First edition of Hindemith's famous school opera. In ten musical scenes, the construction of the Children's Town and life in this city is described. Planning, construction, traffic, all the turbulent Hinundher of the modern city have been lovingly translated into illustrations by the illustrator, the Hindemith -friend painter Rudolf Heinisch. "Heinisch's paintings are based on the slightly caricatured children who diligently build, work and talk with their bizarre urban silhouettes with bridges, skyscrapers, chimneys and scaffolding.

There are 10 songs with music and text in the book. Illustrated with black-and-white illustrations.

The book has cardboard covers which show signs of rubbing and there is some foxing on the back cover. Internally, the pages are lightly tanned on the edges. Other than that they are clean and the binding is tight.
